Creating An Inviting Yard

I have always been one of those people who loves to create a warm, inviting atmosphere for others, which is why I started looking at landscaping design in the first place. It was incredible to me to see how much of a difference I was able to make by adding a few new plants, and after that first project, I wanted to help other people. I started volunteering to help friends and neighbors do their landscaping, and after a few months, I had developed quite a following. This blog is all about creating a warm, inviting yard through smart landscaping and an eye for detail.

Tips To Help You Select A Custom Pool

by Addison Washington

A swimming pool in your own backyard can bring you limitless possibilities with entertaining and pool parties or just relaxing in the sun to boost your mood and your body's vitamin D levels. To get the right pool built and installed in your yard, there are some details you need to decide on to make your pool dream a reality. Here are some recommendations that you can use in your purchase of a new custom swimming pool.

Choose a Pool Shape

When you imagine a pool in your yard, there may be one specific style and shape that comes to mind. A sparkling blue pool in the shape of an oval, a kidney bean, a rectangle, or a clamshell may be what you have in mind, but you need to consider the space in your yard and what you want to use the pool for. If, for example, you plan to swim laps, a unique pool in a circular shape or an L-shape may not provide you the space and length you will want for the pool. Otherwise, for a pool to host outdoor swim parties, a uniquely-shaped pool will make a great tropical statement.

Make sure your yard has enough area for the pool, a pool deck, and surrounding safety fence to cover your home's liability protection. Talk to a local pool professional for specific requests or to pick from a popular design to fit into your backyard space.

Look at Pool Additions

Once you have chosen the right pool shape for your property, decide what extras and additions you want to add into your pool's design. There are many different elements that you can put into a pool to give you the extras you want to enjoy. For example, you may want a shallow beach-style edge where you can wade into deeper waters, or you may want a tanning ledge on the side of the pool's edge where you can soak up the sun's rays but still stay cool in shallow water. Or, you might want a diving board, slide, or swim-up bar within the pool to make your entertainment more exciting.

Some other additions you may want to add are the accessories and attachments for playing water volleyball with a volleyball net stretched across the pool. You can also include a waterfall on one side of the pool where you can splash yourself and create some extra visual interest. For more information on your options, speak with pool builders in your area.
